Before&After No.2 Losing & „The Go Challenge“

So, ready for another „before and after“ (click for info about this series) game.

As you might have read in my last post, i`m having some kind of a „losing streak“ and it feels suddenly like i lost 2 stones. But it is ok, even when this is going to continue for a while, it will not be forever… but anyway, of course i wan`t to overcome this, and play more good go „again“ (of course it is questionable if i ever did, but let`s say more good „5 kyu Go“ then).

I think it has a lot to do with the rest of my life at the moment, a lot of new projects and perspectives, things to do, not very much sleep… but my desire to play go is, while all these other things are happening, very strong. And i feel like my way of playing is

  1. fragile, i try obscure invasions to often, and my groups getting killed
  2. very risky, even from times to times kind of megalomaniac
  3. to emotional and not based on accurate reading

When i was thinking about my (12 games? without any real win, just somebody rsigned every time when we mett in automatch) loosing streak, i often thought about „The Go Challenge“. It was a very nice idea, and i planed to play up to 5 games „Lee Changho Style“ not saying that i can play like Lee Changho of course, just what i`m trying to say is that i try to play 1. safe and 2. not agressive here.

So i maybe will make this another game for the „Go Challenge“, try not to „get all, do all, kill all“ (and while doing this, playing really bad and double kyu digit style moves 😀 )

 So the „before“ is:

  • the goal is not to win here, it is to play safe and not agressive
  • not giving the win easy away at the same time , playing quick and solid … and thinking „oh, the goal was not to win, i played solid, i did it“ … still try to play a good game, but without the usual fighting attitude.
  • trying to take the burden of having kind of a „losing streak“ / problems with my go easy, after all it is just a game 🙂

Epilogue

After the game i played a ASR game against Rebus (Kgs 4 kyu) … i missed a endgame killing move… but would have lost even when i would have prevented it.

    „After“ Game:

    Move 14 – The attachment seems to counter the left side more than the bottom. If you look carefully, the left side can actually still be easily split. If you are to choose one to be concerned about, it is definitely the bottom. So E3 is the attachment you’re looking for if you wanted to ruin Black’s potential immediately.

    Epilogue Game:

    Fuseki – You’re certainly not the only one I’ve seen play this, but I personally have a big dislike for the star point and 3-3 opening as Black because they do not help each other at all. And as a result, it ends up giving White a bigger advantage (with komi) since Black’s stones aren’t working together and have practically no way of doing so down the road. Just my two cents though.

      I thought playing this magical EMPTY TRIANGLE 😀 yes you got me … would give me something … like extra forcing moves 😀 bad move, i guess your right 🙂

      To be honest, i do allmost know nothing yet about the fuseki strategys, i just play arround with moves i like… but reading Fundamental concepts is changing this step by step…
