Hi there, welcome to another „Before & After“ (for more info read post No.1 ). Today there is a kind of special challenge to do. Recently i joined „European Yunguseng Dojang“ as spectator. As spectator you can`t play games in the „league system“ but you can send your „homework“ and it will reviewed in form of a video file together with other homework from other members. The „homework“ is to try to apply what was taught in the last lesson.

The topic of the last lesson was „taking the initiative“.

The examples in the lesson where showing situations where one side should try to avoid to answer locally to take sente / the initiative in a bigger area. I think it is much realted with the concept of „Kiai“ (click to article at SL about it). Basically i will try to avoid playing any submissive moves… and will be on the lookout to play a powerfull tenuki or sacrifice to play at a bigger place… something like that. While my english is not even 5 kyu at the moment 😀 it`s difficult to write about these type of things in english … but i think you could have got the point!

Before:

• Watch a bit of the „taking the initiative“ lesson again
• Trying to be on the lookout for powerfull tenukis / sente plays to direct the game in my desired direction
• I will try to allways ask myself: do i should continue to play (~answer) in this local area, or is there a more interesting area somewhere on the board?
• Additional challenge: i will try (again) to replay as much of the game as possible on a real board… i will post a screenshot, even if only 5 moves 😀

Go is really a interesting game, because even if you win i all battles, you may loose your game, because go is like a war, you should control the game, not only one part“

So i played a ASR league game at KGS, we played quite long and we took some time to review it together and later on hvk joined and did some great variations and showed better moves. So because i allready did review this game (and i`m tired now and will go to bed soon) , i just post our review „raw“ as it is without further editing.
I really focused on trying to get the initiative… maybe first time with the invasion at the lower right corner … but … i think this game is not 100% good for my „doyang“ homework… i will try to make another „homework game“ tomorrow.

I forgot move 18 and played it as white „40“… but then i did remember that it should have coome much earlier… so i see my concentration is no longer here, good night 😉
